Procedure for Chartering a BLACK JACK Unit

Interested Units should first contact BLACK JACK National Headquarters and indicate the desire for BLACK JACKS.
BLACK JACK National Headquarters will send the interested unit a packet containing a BLACK JACK National and Company SOP and a “Unit confirmation for admittance to BLACK JACKS” form.
The Unit must fill out the “Unit Confirmation“ form. The vote must be unanimous – an abstention will be considered a YES vote.
This form is now sent to National Headquarters if all members have voted to take the test for becoming a BLACK JACK Unit.
Upon receipt of the Unit Confirmation form, National Headquarters will forward to the Unit National Pledge Manuals and pledge tests in the number requested by the Unit.
When the unit receives the tests and manuals, a class or learning period should be instituted by the Cadre or unit commander. Once the Unit is confident that they know the pledge manual, the test should be administered by the cadre (answer sheets will accompany the test forms).
A pledge may take the test as many times as is needed to pass it. Once 80% of the Unit passes the test, the unit becomes eligible to become a B/J Unit (this 80% must be at least five people).
When this percentage has been reached, the cadre should forward the test results and the answer sheets of the cadets to NHQ.Along. With this should be sent a properly completed Form #4 (Charter Application) and two letters of recommendation – one from the Senior Cadre Advisor, and one from the school principal.
Upon receipt of all this material, B/J NHQ will review the material, and if approved, the Unit will be informed of its probationary state. This state will be in effect for one (1) year. During this year, the Unit will function as a BLACK JACK unit, but will simply not have the official charter. This does include the paying of Initial Issue and dues.
At the end of the probationary period, if everything is in order, the Unit will be granted full and active status and will receive the official charter, stating that the unit is a member of the National Society of BLACK JACKS.
